Berkeley Ensemble

‘A delight… warmly communicative and commendably polished readings…’ Classical Ear

These dynamic young players have played in our Face to Face series in recent years and now return with a world première by Paul Cott, a rarely heard work by former Vice-President Lennox Berkeley and Beethoven’s epic Septet. For John Joseph Merlin, a piece in celebration of the 17th Century’s foremost violin-playing, roller skate-inventing, party-loving mechanical engineer, the musicians will be joined by viola players from Luton Music Service and dancers from Luton 6th Form College.

We are most grateful to the Berkeley Society for financial help in presenting this concert.

Luton Music Service

Luton Music Service works with parents and schools to deliver instrumental and vocal tuition to pupils from the town and provide them with opportunities to participate in out-of-school music making. Many of Music on Mondays’ recent outreach projects would never have been possible without the expert artistic and logistical support of LMS who continue to enhance the cultural life of youngsters in Luton and beyond.
