Helen Nicholas & Holly Cook   10th Oct 2016 at the Library Theatre Map

These two dazzling young musicians launch our series – Half the World – in which 50% of the music programmed is to have been written by women. This concert includes the virtuosic Concertino by Cécile Chaminade and atmospheric works by Anne Boyd. Another impressionistic piece is Orange Dawn by Ian Clarke, a much loved favourite of young flautists everywhere. York Bowen was not only a composer but also a first rate pianist, often performing at the Proms, so there is much dazzling keyboard writing in his sonata. Holly will also play on non-Western flutes in what will surely be a most memorable evening.
