Magnard Ensemble              1st November 2021 Venue St. Augustine’s Church Map

This young wind ensemble – flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn for this concert – have been attracting exceptional reviews since they were formed in 2012. Their varied programme includes a sonata by a former Vice-president of Luton Music, Stephen Dodgson. In the last few years members of the ensemble have become specialists in the chamber music of this fine British composer.

From the beguiling impressionism of Amy Beach, the Gallic charm of Jacques Ibert, right up to the contemporary sparkle of György Ligeti and Paul Patterson's witty, folksy Westerly Winds, this will surely be a diverting showcase for some exceptional wind playing.

‘A hugely gifted ensemble of the younger generation, the chemistry between the five young players is magical, the maturity and sensitivity of their playing is a delight!'  Paul Patterson - composer
