Beethoven Piano 25th June 2020 The Bear Club Map
Professor of Piano at the Royal College of Music, Andrew Zolinsky will perform Beethoven’s D major sonata from Op 10. He will then present three of his most promising students in other early sonatas, reminding us of Beethoven’s role as a teacher. The maestro’s status as the greatest keyboard player of his age was seldom challenged and as a result he was much sought after as a teacher. Whether his volatile temperament made him suited to such a calling is hard to establish, but there is no doubting that it was a useful source of income, particularly when he was obliged to give up any performing career as his deafness encroached.
