Pianist Andrew Zolinsky returns to Luton with a programme especially conceived to honour the centenary of the Russian Revolution in the autumn of 1917. Virtuoso piano writing from Scriabin and Rachmaninov in the early years of the 20th Century will open the programme. This romantic repertoire contrasts strongly with the two autobiographical works by Prokofiev, both from the turbulent year of 1917 and based on material from earlier sketches, harking back perhaps to less troubled times. This intriguing recital offers a remarkable insight into turmoil on the continent of Europe only one hundred years ago…
